Process

A Three-Step Approach

Starting in September 2021, the project will operate over three phases until February 2024:
Phase 1 (September 2021 – June 2022) aims to understand the current landscape of poverty-related SDG localization in Canada by conducting background research, key-informant interviews, and a survey. At this stage, the project builds the frameworks, knowledge and partnerships through which it will engage communities.
Phase 2 (July 2022 – June 2023) will use the knowledge gathered from the previous phase to identify gaps, including issue-based, thematic, and demographic gaps in public policy related to poverty eradication. Once the gaps are identified, the project will host 15-20 community conversations across the country with local communities impacted by poverty, engaging over 225 people in the process.
Phase 3 (June 2023 – February 2024) will combine all of the knowledge and information it has gathered with communities to build a community-driven indicator framework for measuring progress towards eradicating poverty as well as a community-driven action plan for communities, that lays out priority actions needed to achieve the 2030 Agenda.
Through the process, the project will share learnings with partners, governments, and civil society through digital media, networking and movement building activities, public education, and advocacy. Sign up for our mailing list to stay connected!
